Who I Am
I am a husband, father and teacher.
Before I am a teacher, I am those things above ^ and I encourage you to strike that same work life balance in everything you do.
I believe in showing up for the people who matter most, both at home and in the classroom. I'm also a U.S. Army veteran, robotics educator and coach, as well as a passionate advocate for empowering teachers to lead boldly, teach bravely, and transform education from the inside out.
A Story of Grit + Growth
My teaching journey began right after my first son was born, in a kindergarten classroom filled with chaos, curiosity, and joy. I’ve since launched an award-winning elementary robotics program, taught high school engineering, relaunched a dying high school robotics program, and coached students across grade levels to build, create, and lead in powerful ways.
I also have years of experience working with middle schoolers on their robotics journey, and now that I think of it, let’s get into more of that story in a future blog post. Stay tuned- it will be fun!
Before that? I served in the U.S. Army and worked in engineering offices and corporate cubicles—but none of it compared to the purpose I feel every time I walk into a classroom.
What I’ve Learned
I’ve experienced burnout, broken bones (literally), and career uncertainty. I’ve been moved across grade levels, left without mentors, and doubted myself too many times to count.
And yet—those challenges shaped me.
I’ve learned how to:
Build strong student relationships that transform behavior and belief
Take brave risks and bounce back from failure
Persevere in a new environment
Launch a robotics program with near-zero resources
I now help educators find their niche, trust their voice, and create lasting impact—both online and offline… within their classroom and beyond their classes walls. This is how we transform the world.
My Mission
I teach because kids deserve teachers who show up with courage.
I teach because I believe education is a mission worth giving everything for.
I teach because our work is sacred—and the future is watching.
At Strickland TEACH, my mission is simple:
Share knowledge. Teach with passion. Transform the world.
